Really don’t like it…

Taurox Prime

The Taurox Prime is a robust infantry assault vehicle. It is heavily armoured with thick plates and is equipped with an array of heavy weapons to support the Scions on the battlefield.

Is it just me, or does the design of this model just look wrong?

The Taurox Prime is a new model from Games Workshop, and I really don’t like it. I think it’s too tall and the tracked “wheels” fail to work for me.

What are your thoughts?

  1. I don’t like it either. I don’t know why they didn’t go with the pyramid shaped “tracked wheels” (that exist on many vehicles) vs. these really awkward odd shaped ones that just don’t really seem very viable.
The body of the vehicle just looks like an armored truck. It is like an armored money collection vehicle and doesn’t really have that cool APC look that the Chimera’s and Rhino’s do. Overall this looks like a cheap kids toy rather than a representation of a futuristic fighting vehicle.
I would have liked to have seen them either go in a new direction entirely rather than copy 20th/21st century tech like they always do.
Par for the course these days … lots of silly cartoony stuff.
I do have to commend them for not making the thing 3 feet long by 2 feet wide which seems to be the trend in vehicles.
We are playing on 4×6 tables and if some guy shows up with six fliers … the entire table is filled … too much crap on a small table. So my positive comment on this is … at least it isn’t outrageously giant.

  2. I would have preferred a half track or wheeled version.
I hate the guns mounted on the sides of the hull in fixed positions firing forward. In Theory and Practice it is an idiotic idea for a land vehicle.
While I still love 40K and WHFB I have not played in 3 years and am hard pressed to justify paying for the new kits.
it does look perfect for kits bashing as an Ork truck though – lol

  3. I don’t like it either: too tall, too narrow, ridiculous tracks. The whole thing just looks wrong.

  4. Wow I hate that thing.
Full disclosure: I quit playing 40k a while back, though I do still think the models are great fun to paint up.
Clearly GW is trying to emulate the current MRAPs (Mine-Resistant, Ambush Protected) vehicles that are becoming mainstream in NATO forces (the South Africans have had them for years). My biggest question concerns what role the vehicle is supposed to play on the battlefield. It looks to be a ‘guard vehicle, but they already have the Chimera to carry troops.
I think Allan nailed it. This kit is probably best used by ork players to kitbash something cool out of it.
