A computer game version of Space Hulk is coming in 2013. I really do enjoy playing the boardgame, suspect that the computer game will be fun, but nowhere near as good as the boardgame.

Top Ten Posts of 2011
Another successful year for Felix’s Gaming Pages with over 450 blog posts put online. Slightly less hits this year, but that was in the main as I didn’t attend GamesDay 2011 and therefore didn’t live blog as I have done in previous years. So what were the top ten posts (by visits) for 2011.
Well the 10th most popular post was about the return of Space Hulk. I was never that into Space Hulk, I have never bought the game in its earlier incarnations, but lots of people bought the limited re-release, so much so, it sold out very quickly.
This post was a live blog post from GamesDay 2010. I was posting photographs from the show live to the blog via my phone. This was of a fantastic Warhammer Fantasy diorama, the Siege of Altdorf. I also took a fair few photographs of the siege using my DSLR.
Some excellent scenery and very evocative of the Warhammer world.
Some very nice Ultramarines Dreadnoughts on display at Warhammer World. Warhammer World is always worth a visit and I have spent lots of time looking at all the wonderful miniatures in the Citadel Miniatures Hall. Every time I have visited I have seen something new (and sometimes something old).

4. Flames of War – Battle of the Bulge
This post was from 2011 and discussed the possibilities of a Flames of War Battle of the Bulge supplement that Battlefront mentioned in Feburary. Within the post I discussed the tanks that I hoped we would see in any such release including the M24 Chaffee and the Comet.
I also speculated how nice it would be to see some Late-War Monsters.
3. Marneus Calgar of the Ultramarines’ Land Raider
This post was all the photographs I had taken of Marneus Calgar of the Ultramarines’ Land Raider from the ‘Eavy Metal display cabinets at both GamesDay 2005 and Warhammer World.
This photograph of a Chaos Baneblade that won the Silver Golden Demon at GamesDay 2007 is my second most popular post and the reason it is, is that if you put Baneblade into Google this image comes up!

So my most popular post of 2011 was a posting from February 2009 about a link I had found in the community feed of some beautifully painted Death Korps of Krieg tanks.
So will these same posts be just as popular in 2012, we will have to wait and see.

ALIENS
I re-watched ALIENS the other day, and it was a reminder what an excellent film it is. The concept of Colonial Marines on a bug hunt is an appealing scenario for gaming.
I did buy the ALIENS boardgame, though I have no idea where it is now. That was a fun game, very much like Space Hulk. A small group of Colonial Marines is holed out and blips from all corners descend on them. I should of course actually say how much Space Hulk is like the ALIENS film!
There was also other games and gaming books based on ALIENS and though I know I bought a few again I have no idea where they are – I probably sold them on eBay!
I think the only reason that I didn’t spend a lot of time playing a miniatures game based on ALIENS was the miniatures that were available were not up to the standard I thought they should be. The aliens were fine, but the Colonial Marines were too much like cartoons. Oh and the hardware wasn’t up to scratch either. Can’t remember who made them, anyone know?
I think rather than recreate scenes from ALIENS I’ll just have a few games of Space Hulk.

In a limited release, Games Workshop are re-releasing Space Hulk.
From the depths of space an ancient vessel drifts slowly towards the Imperium of Mankind – a space hulk. Within its confines, untold thousands of Genestealers slowly emerge from hibernation. The Space Marines must enter the cramped corridors and tomb-like chambers of the ancient ship to defeat this alien menace.
Space Hulk is a board game for two players, recreating the battles fought between the Space Marines and Genestealers. One player commands the Space Marines as they carry out deadly missions in the ancient Space Hulk, and the other commands the horde of Genestealers opposing them. Space Hulk’s fast-paced rules simulate the tense atmosphere of a mission deep inside the cramped confines of a derelict space hulk, where split-second decisions are needed for victory.
This boxed game contains: a 23-page Rulebook, a 47-page Mission book and 35 finely-detailed, plastic Citadel miniatures, including: 11 Space Marine Terminators, one Space Marine Terminator Librarian, 22 Genestealers, and one Broodlord.
Also included are: 105 gaming counters, 24 corridors, 10 rooms, eight crossroads, eight T-junctions, six corner sections, four dead ends, four end pieces, 20 doors with plastic stands, one mission status display, and three plastic mission objectives, including: a dead Space Marine on throne, a Blood Angels artefact and a Cyber-Altered Task Unit. Plus a sand timer and five bone-coloured dice unique to this game.

Orks and Guardsman in Space Hulk
Over the last couple of months when I have had a chance for a game I have been playing Space Hulk (second edition).
It’s a fun game and well worth playing.
However today we played a different version which was a lot of fun.
Virtually all the board pieces were used, I had ten Orks (well two were Grots), Simon had ten Guardsman.
Oh yes I also had some Boar Boyz down there…
The objective was to get to four of the six rooms (in the second game we played it was all six rooms0 before the other player, the catch was that each room contained a *surprise* which was decided on a dice roll.
In the second game the table was:
2 Space Marine Dreadnought
3 Death Ray, D6 with 5,6 an automatic kill of the person who entered the room
4 a Terminator
5 2 Genestealers
6 an Ork
7 a Genestealer
8 a Guardsman
9 2 Genestealers
10 an Ork in Mega-Armour
11 9 Genestealers
12 Ork Killa Kan
We used in the main 40K rules, though you had to be in base-to-base to assault. It worked surprisingly well.
Playing was a lot of fun.
