Death Korps Diorama at Warhammer World

In this Death Korps Diorama at Warhammer World were various heavy tanks and infantry. There was this Shadowsword.

Imperial Shadowsword Super Heavy Tank

The Imperial Shadowsword Super Heavy Tank is the sister tank of the more common Baneblade super-heavy tank of the Astra Militarum. The Shadowsword is a nearly identical super-heavy tank to the Baneblade with the exception of its armament and battlefield role as a Titan-killer. Armed with a massive forward-firing gun known as a Volcano Cannon the Shadowsword’s primary focus during combat is the destruction of enemy Titans.

This Malcador Infernus was part of that diorama.

Death Korps Malcador Infernus

The Malcador Infernus is a variant of the venerable Malcador Assault Tank design. It is not widely used by Imperial armed forces at the present time and is in fact little known even within the Imperial military.

A “crocodile” style variant of the Malcador, I do like the rear part of the vehicle I am less so sure about the main weaponry. It looks like a big flamer.

Now I know it is a big flamer, but what I mean is that it looks like an out of scale flamer, a 3-up of a standard flamer rather than an actual flamer which is big!

Across the diorama was infantry and a fair bit of snow.

Frozen Bones

A nice piece of scenery that was on display at GamesDay 2009.

I’ve always liked the idea of snow and ice scenery and games. Probably the result of watching The Empire Strikes Back too many times!

There is something very different about snow and ice, in reality it creates real tactical and strategic challenges (ask Napoleon about his attack on Russia).

Of course there is more to snow and ice than putting down a white sheet and painting all your bases white! Real snow on the ground is rarely white, especially after been marched on, depending on the thickness, the temperature and how old the snow is, it can very quickly become a muddy icy mess.

Warmaster in the Snow

Of the many display games at GamesDay 2001, one of many which caught my eye was this Warmaster siege game in the snow.

As well as the nice scenery there were lots of siege weapons in use.

Warmaster in the Snow

Overall a great looking game.

Warmaster in the Snow

Warmaster is one of those games which I think is fantastic, but have never found the time to do it justice either in painting an army or playing lots of games. One day, really one day I will get round to doing more with it.
