Inquisitor Lorr

Inquisitor Lorr was a 30th anniversary miniature that was released back in 2005. I did pick one up and unfortunately I have had it on my workbench for way too long. When you consider that GW just celebrated their 50th anniversary.

It is a very nice model and is based on the Witch Hunter model that is available in the boxed set, but has a different weapon (plasma pistol) and is pointing rather than holding a sword. Personally I think it is a better model.

Rules can be found in White Dwarf #304 for this model.

This is where I had got with the model.

The Thunderhawk gunship is used by the Adeptus Astartes as their primary means of deploying forces for ground combat as well as their primary source of air support. The Thunderhawk gunship is often considered the lynchpin of any Space Marine Chapter, as it is able to fulfill many combat roles. The Thunderhawk is fully capable of functioning as an orbital drop ship, a heavy ground attack gunship, or as a bomber. The aircraft is able to quickly carry Space Marine forces from orbiting starships down into the midst of a battle, while at the same time providing supporting fire against enemy ground or air targets.

Ork Battlefortress

This Ork Battlefortress was part of the diorama showing an Imperial assault on an Ork Shanty Town to rescue a downed Valkyrie of the Militarum Tempestus.

Ork Battlefortress

This is a conversion of the Forge World resin model which was available for many years before being retired. Currently there is nothing like this in the range, well perhaps the Ork Gargantuan Squiggoth, but that’s more of an animal than a tank. The conversion consists of the addition of a cab and a larger frontal main weapon.

I do wonder if we will ever see a new version of this Ork heavy tank?

Larger then a Battlewagon, Battlefortresses are used by richer and more powerful Ork Warbosses as super-heavy assault vehicles and mobile command centers. These enormous heavily-armed vehicles bristle with heavy cannons, energy weapons, and explosive launchers. As a rule any Ork vehicle of sufficient size will be called a Battlefortress by the Orks themselves and like most Ork vehicles there is very little standardization and they are highly customized, though several variants exist such as the “Dethrolla” and “Skullhamma”. Nonetheless, these vehicles are a match for any enemy counterpart on the battlefield short of a Titan. Ork Mek Boyz consider the construction of a Battlefortress to be one of their greatest achievements.

Voss Pattern Lightning Strike Fighter

The Lightning fighter’s main role is engaging enemy aircraft and establishing air superiority over the battlefield.

Voss Pattern Lightning Strike Fighter

Following the Saint-Saen Crusade’s liberation of twelve worlds in the Segmentum Obscurus, STC patterns were recovered for an air superiority fighter, smaller and more agile than the iconic Thunderbolt. The Lightning has since been disseminated to other worlds with strong ties to the Imperial Navy, notably Bakka and Hydraphur, and production has recently begun within the Segmentum Solar, resulting in the Voss Pattern Lightning Strike Fighter. The ‘Strike’ variant of the Lightning is equipped with a potent armament of six Hellstrike missiles as well as its twin-linked lascannon, fulfilling a dedicated ground attack role.

Acolyte

The greatest threat to the Imperium of Man is, and has always been, the followers of Chaos and the foul daemons of the Warp. The Inquisitors of the Ordo Malleus, the Daemonhunters, are at war with forces too terrible to comprehend and, together with the holy warriors of the Grey Knights, they must take the light of the Emperor into the darkness. The threat of the daemonic is so great that only these heroic warriors have the necessary skills and knowledge to stand against such diabolical foes.

The first part of my retinue was this Acolyte.

I think this model was one of the reasons I put the Inquisitorial Henchmen into storage. I wasn’t really happy with the paint job I had done (well to be specific the writing).

Black Templar Cenobyte with Relic

I had always liked this model, but wasn’t sure a) where it came from, b) what it was called, so I could never find it in the stores or on the online store. It was only when reading through an old White Dwarf that I saw it was part of the Black Templars Chaplain Grimaldus and Retinue Boxed Set.

Back in the day you could order miniatures from boxed sets individually through Mail Order, so I did that.

The plan was to use it as part of my Inquisitorial retinue.

Having cleaned the model and basing it with GW modelling sand, I gave the model a white undercoat. I then painted the relic with black paint. I am intending for it to look like grey stone.

After getting to this point, the model then went into storage.

Tempestus Scions Valkyrie Airborne Assault Carrier

This Tempestus Scions Valkyrie was on display at Warhammer World.

The Tempestus Scions are elite special forces of the Imperial Guard. They have the best equipment and weapons.

The Valkyrie are troop carrying gunships used by the Imperial Guard. They are used to take soldiers into the heart of the battle. Flying through the enemy gunfire, landing in the hotzone and dropping off their payload before flying up in support.

Sometimes the troops are jumping, using grave chutes, from high above the battlefield. The Valkyrie is armed with lascannons or a multi-laser, and under the wings are missiles or rocket pods. The Valkyrie, like most of the Imperium’s aircraft, is piloted and operated by the Imperial Navy, with a pilot, co-pilot and two door gunners. Though not a helicopter, the Valkyrie is used in a similar way.

I do have one of these, but it currently remains unbuilt in its box. I did though paint some for Aeronautica Imperialis.

Thunderbolt Heavy Fighter

Thunderbolt Heavy Fighter

The Thunderbolt heavy fighter is one of the two main fighter aircraft patterns used by the Imperial Navy, the other of which is the Lightning air superiority fighter. The Thunderbolt is the mainstay weapon system of Imperial Navy fighter wings and is a rugged, well-armed and armoured heavy fighter with all-around capabilities, a good maximum speed and above-average maneuverability, powerful nose-mounted weapons and hard points located on the wings for missile or bomb load-outs.

The Thunderbolt’s primary combat role is as an air superiority fighter. It seeks out and engages enemy aircraft in dogfights or hunts enemy bombers to establish air superiority. The Thunderbolt’s greatest strength is its versatility, since it has good performance as a high-altitude escort fighter while it is also serviceable in the roles of a low-altitude fighter-bomber, night fighter or even as a reconnaissance aircraft when necessary.

It is an aircraft that is well-liked by those who fly and service it and it has served the cause of the Emperor for many centuries.

One of the HQ choices is of course an Inquisitor and a very nice model it is too. I decided early on that I would leave the book he was holding separate and glue it on later.

After getting to this point, the model then went into storage.
